is that where you can check your own restore point?, do you by any chance have a disk with a restore point or the disk for windows 7, i presume not?

No, we have checked the original packaging for any sign of a restore disk and there doesnt seem to be one, is there no clue to what driver could be causing it?

Nothing major, after it crashed the first time i was advised to update my sound driver as this was normally the main cause of the problem, this did not fix it, and an error with the ATI catalyst control appeared, so i updated that driver. i got my computer working fine for around 3 hours yesterday, and when i turned it on again today it started to crash again

Hmm, interetsting, let me try investigate this a little bit for you; might find a solution.
Did this happen before or after you isntalled the drivers, because after i thnk a driver is either invalid or corrupt which is causing that csrss.exe (something like that) to crash.

It crashed before i installed the drivers and still does now, i have been told to revert back to an older version of ATI catalyst control which cannot be done in safe mode, it does not allow an uninstall, how may this be done?

hmm, there is no way your computer can run in "normal" mode without crashing, i wonder if i can find something that delete's it.

Not sure about this; "Uninstalling CCC, and then:

1. Check that (Program Files folder )/ATI Technologies/ATI.ACE is empty
2. Check (Windows folder)/Assembly folder to see if there's any files with Public Key Token of "90ba9c70f846762e" (Sort by Public key token to get a easier view). All these tokens should be uninstalled by right clicking and uninstalling.
3. Check that (Document and Settings)/(User)/AppData/Local/ATI/ACE is empty
4. Reinstall CCC"

someone would really need to try it.

Where to start
First 5 year old Pinnacle drivers. Pinnacle should be removed.

Second Symantec, remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Old drivers from 3 years ago. Video drivers from two years ago. All these need updating
