I wonder if anyone can advise on this. Basically on Tuesday there were a few windows updates. I don’t have them auto install, instead I have it set to notify of availability. There were about 10-15 in total. So I installed them. After I re-booted my boot time took a fair bit longer, about a minute extra to normal. No problem I thought as immediately after installation this is normal as windows configures itself. However subsequent reboots remained slow by about the same. It took about 8 or 9 more reboots to return to normality on the boot speed. It has happened before after windows updates but not often. I think one of them was Net Framework related update which was a reasonably sizeable update.
Does anyone know why this happened? Is that normal? I am not sure whether all the reboots fixed it or whether having rebooted after the ninth or so time I gave the laptop a fair amount of idle time before trying again.
Also how often does Windows 7 check on it’s own for updates? Reason I ask is I did a manual check yesterday evening which showed no new updates. Then I booted this morning and under the update / security settings it said the last check for updates was yesterday evening and not this morning. Does it only do a check every 24 hours or something like that? Normally, having re-booted the last check will always say it was done a few minutes after the boot.
Many thanks,
Wayne
