Hey Guys -

Hopefully someone can help with this - I'd just like to know which program(s) is (are) causing the BSOD.

Windows 7 has been pretty reliable up until now, but something I've done over the last few weeks has started causing this...

Purchased & downloaded from Microsoft, and all up to date.

I've read the Information for this thread, and hopefully have posted the necessary info below:

Windows 7 . . .
x64
- the original installed OS on the system? No, reinstalled
- Full Retail = I purchased it from retailer

- What is the age of system (hardware)? - 12 months
- What is the age of OS installation 6-8 months (have you re-installed the OS? - Yes)

Anything else required, please shout, and thanks in advance!

  1. Caused by PC Tools Internet Security. Use the uninstall procedure in Smart Update and IntelliGuard Issue and install Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows in its place to run with Windows firewall.
  2. Are you using two internet security systems? Avast and PC Tools Internet Security show up in this crash.

Hey writhziden

Thanks for the prompto response -

I've removed :

PC Tools Firewall
Avast Antivirus
Spware

And installed Mrcorsoft Security Essentials.

Double checked there were no other firewall / AV such as Zonealarm / AVG left in Programs (I did have these installed in the past)

All clear, so I think I'm just running

Windows Firewall
Windows Defender
Windows Antivirus

Will see how this gets along today!

Thanks again,
Darren.

You're welcome Darren. I am glad you removed the two antivirus programs. Having two full antivirus programs like that can cause conflicts on a system. It is possible you could run one or the other without conflict, but you would have to test it out.

Your current antivirus system is a good setup (although it does not include Microsoft Defender separately since Defender is built into Microsoft Security Essentials). For more security, you may also consider the http://www.sevenforums.com/system-s...-system-security-combination.html#post1732627

Let us know how the system runs and whether it is stable over the next few days. Best wishes it is. :)

Cheers writhziden -

(Ah - already had Defender installed)

Only one BSOD yesterday, and none today, so maybe it's settling down.

I'm checking that link for good security combos now ;-)

**edit - Just noticed Windows Defender is turned off - that seems correct after installing Security Essentials and reading the link above

Good to hear stability has increased. Let us know if you continue to get crashes and upload any new crash reports. Best wishes there aren't any new ones to upload. :)
