Hello Im new to these forums and I really need some help.

As of yesterday whenever I start the computer, it says "Windows Error Recovery - Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. If windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, startup repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose start windows normally."

it then gives me two choices: Launch Startup Repair (Recommended) or Start Windows Normally.

When I launch startup repair im left with a black screen with no cursor. Ive tried just leaving it alone but after 5hours it stayed the same so I just gave up and just turned it off.

When I start windows normally it tries to load up windows but after a few seconds Im brought back to the first screen with the same two choices.

I have also tried running safe mode and last known good configuration. Both of them lead me back to the first screen with the two choices.

If anyone has any ideas on what else I can do to fix this please let me know.

The problem is that I cant get past the windows error recovery screen with the two choices to attempt anything else.

Then I'm afraid it looks very much like a format and clean install.

To be fair you could try a startup repair again and prepare yourself for a long wait and you may need to repeat the process three times with a reboot between each attempt.

Follow these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.

You may need to disinfect your system before repairs will work.

The steps work up to rescuiing your files to run Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstall. You'll know by then that you've done everything possible to repair it.
