Solved Windows 7 Activation error 0x80070002

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

When trying to open Windows Activation (slui.exe) an error box appears: "The system cannot find the file specified" with the error code 0x80070002.

"sppsvc" also is not running, and returns the same error above when I try to manually start it.

Also, on System Information: Windows Activation is not available.

I want to avoid a whole clean installation. What can I do?

The following message is displayed when I try to Copy, so I'll post screenshots instead.

Note: I have also run "sfc /scannow" command twice, no luck. On the first try some errors were fixed, on the second no errors found.

Hi Oxyg3n,

The report is telling me that the machine was shipped with either W8 or W10.

The Dell activation exploit you used to install W7 on your Acer has failed, which MS have picked up on.

To make your system genuine please revert it to the original OS, or purchase a genuine W7 Ultimate product.

Until you do so no further help can be provided as per forum rules.

This machine was on FreeDOS on purchase. I also have an unused, genuine key for Windows 7 Ultimate x64 but I can't use it cause of this activation problem. Is there anything I can do to solve it and activate the system with the genuine key or I have to reinstall Windows 7?

A genuine key would have come with Install media, use it to perform a repair install.

You can input your key during the process, see post#16 from the above tutorial.
NO loss of data.

BEFORE you do
UNinstall the exploit, i dont know what else has been corrupted.
Suggest you clean install
