Hey guys, I recently changed my service provider from DSL to Cable. Now I have to call Microsoft to activate my windows 7.

Is there any way to fix this problem?

Can you describe in detail exactly what activation message you're getting? Also your system specs shows your OS as NM- what is NM?

If you want help, please provide details such as what edition and type of win7 you use and what activation messages you get. If you want to rant, help yourself.

here's the solution;

Digital River responded with instructions on how to correct problem.

Open regedit.exe with Start Menu Search and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE/

Change MediaBootInstall from "1" to "0".

Close RegEdit.

Start Menu on the Command Line utility. Right-click this shortcut and choose "Run as administrator."
Click Yes to the UAC prompt.

In the command line window, type: slmgr /rearm press enter

wait for the "Command completed successfully" dialog.

Then, close the command line window and reboot.
After Windows 7 reboots, Right Click Computer select Properties select change product Key.
If the Key does not work now please contact Microsoft technical support at:

I take it back. it doesn't work. Microsoft is useless, Tech support sends you to activation dept. which can't help at all.

The best way to install is a clean install.
the problem is that windows 7 looks at it that its being installed on a different computer. Even tech support says you can only install it once.

Geez at this point I'm terribly lost, I'm beginning to think that something is hard coded in the OS software. You would think that MS tech support would be able to help, not the case, I am dumb, but MS is dumber, it may be and probably is out sourced to some country other that the USA.
