Hello everyone:
I upgraded to Windows Professional from Home Premium and everything was running fine for about 3 months. I added a domain user account (this is a work computer with a shared server) and have been logging in using this domain user account.

I needed to install some software so it asked for elevated permission...I tried to log back into the pc as an administrator/owner, using as the username "name-PC\local". The funny thing is when I put the known (this is written down and has been used several times) password, it kicked it back. At first I thought I was typing too fast or screwed something up but it denied the password repeatedly and I still can't get in.

I read that it's possible for the OS to corrupt so I put the upgrade disk back in the computer and ran it after shutting it down. It just moves into Windows 7 normally and doesn't offer me the option to do a System Restore to when my admin password was working.

Any advice that anyone could give would be very useful. I'm so frustrated because I need to install these programs to move forward with a project and I'm wasting time with this hassle.

Thanks!

You could always enable the hidden SU admin account. go to an elevated cmd window in safe mode and type net user administrator. see enclosed snip.

Welcome!

Try booting up in safe mode and logging into the built-in administrator account. Then change your user password.

If you really want to run a startup repair, be sure your BIOS is set to boot from the CD drive first.
