Hi everyone,
i was wondering if theres a tool similar to CPUIdle(for win xp) which can lower down my AMD CPU's temperature in Windows 7? CPUIdle works great for windows xp but i dont think it will work in Windows 7. yes theres realtemp BUT it only displays the temperature, it does not lower down the CPU core's temperature.

what should i do in such a situation....my cpu core gets really very hot during even normal operation.

Thanks

Hi.

Better than to use a software like that is to get a really good thermal paste like Artic Silver or whatever variant it's at now. Take off the heatsink and fan to the cpu and clean whatever is there now with a paper towel and qtips. Apply a very thin and even layer of the Silver, then reseat the heat sink and fan.

This way, you can also clean the heat sink and fan from any dust and dirt too. The system will run well and cooler.

yes i had that in mind...the solution looks promising. will give it a thought. thanks

@KTT
RMClock looks good...it says 'on-the-fly adjustment of the CPU performance level on supported CPU models via processor's power management model-specific registers (MSRs)', does that mean it will lower down my cpu's temperature just like CPUIdle?

Yes. RMClock lowdown dynamically CPU multiplier and CPU voltage. It support half multipliers. It is free.
CpuIdle use only the HLT command to stop CPU. I think this is implemented nativly in Windows and is useless.
