Will windows 7 work correctly if I tranfer it and the rest of the stuff on that hard drive to a replacment one in the same computer. I planned on using Norton Ghost to do this. So will it come up asking for serial key or will it just not work.

Thanks in advance :D

Make sure to copy the MBR if that option is given. It should be default in a full cloning operation which is best.

There is only rarely a problem with startup or activation on cloned HD's, which we can help you with further when/if they occur.

After cloning, remove source HD and set cloned HD as first HD to boot in BIOS setup, after DVD drive.

Now see if clone will boot. If not, boot Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to repair or rewrite the MBR to new Win7.

With Ghost, you have to use the "Copy" function for cloning. It gives you the option to clone the MBR. It never asked for a key when I have done it. I think the system does not know the difference between the original and the clone.
