Hi all,

I recently purchased a 64GB USB drive on which to backup my files. My questions are, do password-protected user accounts and MS Office 2007 files retain their password-protection when backed up to external storage? And, even if so, is there still good reason to encrypt the USB? I have TrueCrypt installed on my laptop and will get to grips with it if encryption is deemed worthwhile.

Thanks for your help. :)

If it was me, I would encrypt the drive, but just manually copy over my important files. I don't use any of the "My" locations to store my data. I keep it on a separate partition (D:\) in folders, such as Documents, Photos, Music, etc. You can use any number of free apps to keep those folders synced with your drive.
