i would like to know what's new with windows 7 basic. i am already agitated with my laptop's performance as it runs windows 7 home premium. i always encounter display driver problems with it. and also, does it have a dvd playback?

An easier solution would be to fix the display driver issue. That usually means you need to install an updated or correct driver version. Check on that first, and then we can go from there.

Well said. Anyway, HB and HP are using same drivers, so if you have driver related problems with Premium, it's not likely the issue disappears by changing to Basic.
