The computer goes blank right after Windows starts up as it's supposed to go to the login screen, and the cursor was the only thing to appear. My answer to everything is to basically reinstall Windows 7 and start over, but after inserting the disc, begining the installation, and going through most of the motions....after Windows restarts again the screen goes black. Before I tried to reinstall Windows I was able to use the computer in Safe Mode, but after the reinstallation failed I can't reach safe mode. I can't seem to find a way to finish the installation.

I really need help. Thank you. I do apologize if this isn't the appropriate place for this post.

You are booting the DVD from the hard drive, right? Maybe you need to format your hard drive during the installation process.

Do you have a TV tuner card or video card outputted to TV, projector? This often happens when drivers load and monitor is cut out by a different card output.

Can you try disabling your video card to use onboard graphics chip? If you were able to get to Safe Mode, you could have tried updating the card driver.

If not, remove all but 2gb of RAM to try your intsall? Test your RAM using memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes.

Does your computer have latest BIOS version Update? What is the SATA controller setting? Try AHCI, then IDE if neccessary.l

Hello Members

I repair and install Computers for other peoble, since a long time, somthing about 27Years. I belive, (sorry) that i understand what i do and there is A strange behavior installing Windows 7 ultimate x86 on this kind of Chipsets (g31)

Two weeks ago I had an ECS motherboard with this chipset (Dont remember the model) and the only way to make Windows 7 work, on this machine, was to clone the harddisk from an other (working) Windows 7 installation. After the first pass of Windows 7 installation, when Windows 7 goes into graphic mode... nothing... black screen and the monitor led blinking... No signal on VGA Port and i was beliving, that something was wrong, with this motherboard. But the cloned Windows 7 installation was/is working very well and there was no other problem installing the drivers and the Programs.

Now, today i recived a Gigabyte Motherboard (GA-G31M-ES2C) with the same Chipset and the same error. Black screen after the first part of Windows 7 installation and the Monitor Led still blinking...

My question to you is, is there some special options on Windows 7 installation boot up (like F5 or F6 in Windows XP) to disable some installation options? Or is there some workaround to make a normal Windows 7 installation from original Windows 7 DVD?

I dont belive, that i am the only one, who have this kind of problems with this chipset and i don't belive, that i recive two motherboard in two weeks, from different manufacturer with this identical problem.

Some idea, some help

Thank you very much for your reply

Sincerely

Thilo Ebers (hope, that you understand my (bad) english :D)

It is incredible, second Maschine with this (INTEL ) CHIPSET and same Problem, which brings me back to the reason why we're here. We're not here because we're free. We're here because we're not free... (Agent Smith, Matrix :D)

F8 during booting from Windows 7 DVD and choose VGA mode (low resolucion) and all will work good...

So easy and no one can answer to this question and no one have the same Problem like me and y have two diferent Maschines with the same Problem... (an ECS Motherboard and an FOXCONN Motherboard) WOW... it is incredible... really incredible... (Maybe it is, because i am using the spanish version of Windows 7 Sp1 Ultimate x86)

Many regards to all

Sincerely
