I am new to the windows forum.... and i have a problem, my PC keeps blue screening in one specific file CDD.DLL... could this file be corrupt if so how could i go about I go about fixing this problem?

Additional Information -

Diagnostics scan report - your computer has a hardware problem.

I have tried to find this problem but as of yet cannot, the only recent change is memory change i had 2 - 2 GB sticks placed in by the creator of my custom made PC (this was from 2 - 1 GB sticks) and since then i have blue screened every day.

My computer security - Norton 2010, Malwarebytes, and norton utilities

As of yet on all scans no viruses.

only 1 week ago i had upgraded my system from vista to 7 because vista sapps memory.

The computer is out of warrenty!!

Thank you for your help! it is appresiated.

i'll skip right to the chase, as i've seen enough of these CDD.dll bsods in computers i've worked on.

Your system ram is either configured incorrectly or is damaged, the dll itself isn't the cause of the crash, its just the last referenced dll loaded prior to the crash occuring.

you yourself stated

as well, which only further points to the system ram being the culprit.

Your specs are also obscenely vague, and prevent further help in correctly configuring the system. Use pcwizard, gpu-z or cpu0z to get more indepth information.

Thank you for the reply... but i am not, as you could tell, a computer genius, i did not configure the RAM the manufacturer did.

Could it be that the RAM is not compatible with my system and therefore crashes to save other hardware in the computer protecting it integrity?

As for the spec of my system as i have said it is a custom built machine.
CDD.DLL could this file have been corrupt by the BSod`s that i have been experiencing since about august 2009? (when the RAM was upgraded)

Thank you for the replies - Cap. jack and leonhart!!

Hello !!

The Dump is pointing to some Windows Core files so please follow these steps

Run the Memory Diagnostic & HD Diagnostic

Also i would recommend to run System Integrity Checker
Start > Run > CMD >Right Click and Run as administrator > SFC/ SCANNOW

There are some old drivers that is well known for problems !!

Code:
AsIO.sys Mon Dec 17 14:40:20 2007
ASACPI.sys Wed Oct 18 11:14:46 2006

ASACPI.sys driver is from Asus its a utility which is well known problems. I'm attaching the file so download it and update it

MB_WIN7_ATK.ZIP

Uninstall all the Asus Utilities Like PC Probe etc. then see whether it makes any diference

I ran the Memory Diagnostics scan, it said : you have a memory problem... contact you computer manufacturer - you problem is in the hardware.

As for the other thing you said "uninstall all asus utilities" could you possibly compose a list of them so i don`t go about unistalling the wrong programmes?

Also to add to this it has stopped crashing under the file win32k.sys since i had performed the windows 7 upgrade.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess in that case the problem is quiet clear that it's the RAM if its brand new as for a replacement. Not sure sure that Asus Utilities you have installed so just go through Programs and Features and remove Programs related the Asus just google the name the utiliy before you uninstall so you know for what that tools is !!

Hope this helps !!

Unlikely, Windows is quite capable of repairing itself if file crc checks don't quite match up.

The programs i mentioned earlier will give us the information about your system's components, cpu-z specifically will give us info about the ram vendor, current timings, and the timings that should be used.

Get those,
in cpu-z (about tab), save the report as txt or html, html is easier to read but you can only attach it zipped here i believe.
using PC Wizard, fill out your system specs, it'll list all brand, model, serial numbers etc... thats important is the ram serial number or part number as they'll help identify the ram installed and get the correct settings, if it is a configuration mismatch.
