I am unable to boot into win 7 on my laptop, fails at boot at boot manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, anche then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc0000001

Have tried to boot from installation disk but whatever option I take it just returns to this error
Have booted into a boot up disk and formatted HDD but no change
Have booted form a window 7 recovery disk, no change
Where does the boot manager sit in the BIOS or on the HDD?
If in the BIOS would a BIOS update help?

Starting to think its a hardware problem

Thanks for any help

Well, have you made any recent hardware changes? Also, was this laptop loaded with a different OS before you migrated to Win7? Or did you buy it with Win7 installed.

Let's start here.

Have you gone into the BIOS, changed the boot drive order to have your CD/DVD drive be the primary? And you've booted with the Win7 installation disc in the CD/DVD drive when it was primary?

I'd just like to be as clear as possible before moving forward.

Best,
Eamon

If you booted disk and formatted, then there is no repair that can be done further. We need to help you get reinstalled.

At this point the DVD should autostart, at first screen press Shift F10 to open a Command Line then clean the HD: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html If this fails, burn a free Partition Wizard CD which will autostart to Wipe HD from disk tab.

Next try install to cleaned HD.

Do you have the latest BIOS version update from Support Downloads webpage for your computer or mobo model?

Reset CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Set SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE if necessary.

Remove all but 2gb of RAM to try install, swap RAM, test RAM with memtest86 for 5-6 passes.
