This a totally random occurance, yesterday i was using my desktop fine as i have been doing for the last 6 months with this build, this morning i switched it on and its stuck on the flashing windows logo, i don't mind re-installing windows but i need to get the data off it and i can't be bothered take out the hard drives and moving the data somewhere else! please give me a clue because there is no reason why it should have done this randomly!
i'm wondering if it could be because its an old beta microsoft have decided to stop it from working?
If you have access to the internet as it would appear with this post, then go to Ubuntu.com, and download the OS, then create a start up disc (Ubuntu will allow you to make a disc that loads up the Linux OS without having to install the complete OS. Then backup the files you want to save, now you can reinstall or repair your windows system. Put the Ubuntu disc some place safe just in case you did it again later.

yeah i have one of those that was my plan but i would really like to know what happened cos its totally out of the blue, and i do like to think of myself as a fixer of computers but this issue has me totally stumped!
Yes it is. Albeit, glad it started working again. As you I like to think there is nothing on a computer that I cannot fix, however, there are times when it just isn't so, hence, the members here on the SevenForums usually will come up with a repair or at least an ideal.
