So I noticed that everytime Windows 7 loads and I'm using my battery then plug into my AC adapter the brightness won't get brighter, I have to manually go into power options and drag the little indicator bar. I want it when on the AC adapter to have a full bright screen and when on the battery 50%. Well Windows 7 doesn't want to seem to remember that because after every boot both the battery and ac adapter will have brightness settings at 50%.

This is a Windows 7 problem and I was wondering if anyone has a solution. Thanks

Did you save the Power Option slider setting?

Did you clean install or carry over any HP power options programs included with computer?

Do you have the latest Win7 video driver (check updates and NVIDIA site)

run sfc /scannow to check integrity of system files.

I was using the HP recommended plan. Yes I have latest drivers for my video card.

Today when I turned it on it was fine, and the ac adapter was on full brightness settings even though I powered on by the battery.

If you cannot get the HP suggested plan or a customized one to hold its settings then consider a clean reinstall at some point since these HP utilities are inferior to the ones built into Win7.

Make a Win7 Backup Image first stored externally so you can easily reimage if you don't like the results of the clean install, which is a bit more work since you have to collect the apps (like Works, Adobe reader/flash, Java, webcam, etc) yourself, many of which are on your model's support downloads page.

HI, I don't really have the time to install windows then load all my stuff, isn't there something in the registry I can change to fix this?
