Hello and good evening
Recently i bought windows 7 to install instead the xp im using now, the problem is after partitioning and installing, the moment when windows wants to start for the 1st time, it gets stuck in the black screen after loading windows remains and the only thing that can be seen is mouse cursor, no matter how long i wait, the user creation and windows 7 configuration never shows up!

P.S: My pc specs are:

HDD: near 160 GB...i gave 30 Gb 1st time, and saw the problem then gave 45Gb, and the problem remained..

CPU: intel pentium 4, 3,20GHz 3,21GHz

RAM: 1GB...I've noticed that 64-bit needed 2GB of rams, therefore i tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce 7600 GS - 512 MB of ram

Optical Driver : Ofcourse. It is DvD Drive.

Problem: Setup forces computer to reboot, and never finishes installation

What to try:
Sometimes setup fails when recovery partitions are still present. For example, Acer and HP both put a special recovery partition on their systems, that cannot be easily deleted.

To delete the partition using Diskpart:
Open a copy of Diskpart following the instructions given earlier.
Enter list disk
Enter select disk n
Enter list partition
Enter select partition n
Enter delete partition override

Now try reinstalling Windows.
Am i correct that the problem of mine is the recovery partition? and should be deleted?

Often the install hangs at this point because a tv card or projector is starting up by loading its driver. Make sure you have video outputted to VGA monitor only.

Have not seen that Recovery Partition solution here before, however it is not impossible. But before I would do that I would make my Recovery Disk set if you haven't already, even by running Recovery from boot if necessary. Do you know that you have a manufacturer's Recovery Partition?

If you do and have made the disks, or don't and don't need to, then try wiping the HD first before install: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html

If you purchased a Win 7 CD, you should have formatted your HD upon installation and you would not have a Recovery partition. Tell us more about your installation. Did you format your HD?

Hello salar, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you are referring to this, I just like to make sure people are aware before they use this option.

   Information

After you have made backups of everything you care to save and you want to do a real wipe "secure erase" to the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including the old Windows drivers, everything all data, giving you the best possible space to install Windows 7 to; it goes hand-in-hand with a clean install.

OK, I have done some actions,
I used method 1 and step 1 at SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation.
Means that at CMD prompt, i did "clear all" on my whole hard disk, then i closed command prompt and Followed by How to Do a Clean Installation with Windows 7 chose language > install now > accepted the license > Custom Advance (The upgrade part, that i have done it before, has passed all my drivers and manufactures success fully and by the way i have installed Ultimate windows Vista once before)> chose 32-bit ultimate win7 > at the partition part, i clicked at "Drive options (advanced)" > New > typed 30,000 MB for the partition that i want to be OS hard > it created 100Mb recovery and i tried deleting it many times but failed > formatted 30GB primary memory > clicked at Next and it installed successfully, BUT it failed me again at where it needs to start the windows for the 1st time (Step 10 at How to Do a Clean Installation with Windows 7), i don't see anything except mouse cursor.

Thanks for further replies...

Hello again.

Why did you not use Step Two in the SSD tutorial to create the partition, that is the only way to not get the 100MB partition during the install process and that is clearly explained in the tutorial?

Next question:

If the Windows 7 install disk is one you burned yourself it may be a bad burn and needs to be done again, if so this would be the first thing to try.

Use the free ISO burner at the link below to burn another at a speed of now more than 4x and select to let the program to verify the disk before it finishes.

Can you boot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 at bootup? If so, check Device Manager and update drivers, especially display. There are other steps which can be tried in Safe Mode.

Try removing the DVD from tray at restart.

Unplug all other HD's and all USB devices.

Check for newer BIOS update, if none then reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Set the SATA controller in BIOS setup to AHCI first, then IDE if neccessary.

Test your RAM with memtest86 for 5-6 passes or overnight.

Test the HD with maker's full diag/repair CD scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

Try reinstalling the video card, then disconnecting it to default to onboard video if available, then try another video card.

Try install with whole HD as partition.

Yea it is a burned DVD, unfortunately I don't have my Original DVD with me.
So I think that's the problem...Bad DVD.
Again Thanks for your time...I'll give the results later.
