windows 7 cannot boot - cannot run chkdsk or diskpart

It is booting from system reserved as I expected. Only something changed to the partition. Did you change disk signature (very unlikely). Dis you change starting LBA of C?

Anyway... start from win7 installation DVD or system repair disk and enter reciovery environment. Perform a startup repair. Tell me what's wrong and if he can fix it. "view diagnostics" or something like that.

the conversion from dynamic disk to basic disk (actually a recovery action in partition wizard) did change the starting point of C some blocks. We are close to the solution!

no, it is still a dynamic disk. partition wizard could not change as it was greyed out. ive just used diskpart to confirm and if you go to the first post in this thread, all those messages listed from commands there are still the same.

the startup repair from the recover disk returns 'system volume is corrupt'

Do what I told you in post #22. And post the final results. So the real results which are applied. Eventually reboot to partition wizard to see if disk layout is still the same

The disk is now basic if this is the screen you get on PW startup. Diskpart should see the same (not dynamic)
Try startup repair!

sfc /scannow

there is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete (reboot doesnt change this message so in other words this command is useless)

chkdsk /r
the type of the file system is NTFS.
cannot lock current drive
cannot run disk checking as the volume is write proetected.

chkdsk C:
cannot open volume for direct access (to make sure i checked ALL A-Z, same message on all but D: (cd rom drive))

bootrec /fixboot
the volume does not contain a recognized file system

C is not there because it thinks it's dynamic. sfc/scannow doens't work that way.

Where is the post with "startup repair" errors? And if it was possible to fix? Can't find it

hmmm .... i am hoping i have some progress. rather than use the recovery disk i have, i burnt a USB .iso install and have use that repair startup ... the result of the startup was the same, however running

bootsect /nt52 all /force /mbr
gave me different results than the old recovery CD:

C: (\\?\Volume{7blahblahblah})
Successfully updated NTFS Filesystem bootcode.

\??\PhysicalDrive0
Successfully updated disk bootcode.

\??\PhysicalDrive1
Successfully updated disk bootcode.

does this look better? what now?

you chkdsked your usb stick!! Do you know what you're doing anaway

/nt52 is for winxp bootcode!!!
use /nt60 instead !!!

If you can boot from usb stick anyway. You replaced the bootsector with winxp bootcode that loads NTLDR ... and that doesn't exist

Do you have an external usb disk with lots of free space to ujse as backup? please inform me.

I think the disk is a little bit corrupt. PW understands it, diskpart not
