Windows 7 can't use more than 75% of ram?

I got 64 bit w7, with 4gb installed and as soon as it goes around 75% ram usage it starts telling me to close apps (and does that) and doesn't allow me launching more...

How can I make use of all my ram? or is the limit there for some other reason than only that windows 7 doesn't like to use more ram?
I'd understand something like 90% or 95% but 75% cap feels like I'm wasting my 1 gig.

Edit: I don't have paging file because I don't like it.
Normally I don't hit the cap but in more unusual situations I do.

You've answered your own question - you ram is being limited because you don't have a page file that Windows can use instead. If you enable the page file the problem should go away.

Of course you're correct abt pagefile. I dont like them either just wonder what is eating 4 gigs of ram. He should give us a pic of task manager to we can help him slim down the apps.

It would help to know why the OP doesn't like having a page file. The page file gives Windows a place other then ram to map the memory requests of applications. Programs often request more ram then they really need and without the page file Windows is forced to allocate real ram to them. Since the OP is running 64 bit he could add more ram, but perhaps his motherboard doesn't support it? The only other option is to run fewer programs.

I've used/maxed all my 8GB both with and without a pagefile, so I don't know how the OP has gotten this 75% cap :huh:

My mobo is ASUS P6T and intel core i7 920 and 6gb of ram
But windows show for me 4gb
I don´t know what´s happen becouse a CPU-z shows my 6gb

You obviously have a 32 bit version of Windows 7. I have the same mb, ram and cpu as you and Windows 7 Pro x64 sees it all.

The way Windows 7 incorporates the pagefile with physical memory, I believe it's best to use a pagefile even if you don't think you need it. The pagefile is engineered into Windows 7 so deeply that I think it works more efficient and effective with it than without it, no matter how much physical memory is in the system. With the size of hard drives these days, I don't know why some still don't want to allocate any space for a pagefile when you aren't going to miss the space anyway.

ask yourself when you go to my computer at the top it says system properties click on it and it should tell you how much ram you have and how much can windows use

If you look in the Image he Sent, you would see that it says 64 Bit Operationg System.

As for the Page File, regardless the size of drives these days, the less amount of times you have to access the "Page File " ie; the Drive the better, unless you have a SSD drive you want to set up as a pagefile drive on its own, as they are 10x faster than any Disk Drive.

Did you @ 1st have 4 Gb installed then upgraded to 6? Or did you have 6 GB right from the install?
Normally this shouldn’t matter, but i have come across a few cases, where a client’s PC had the ram upgraded, but then was not changed in the OS, why this is, No clue, this is something for Microsoft... now the funny thing was in the few PC's I have come across they were all the Ultimate edition, I would recommend doing a re-install of the X64 Windows 7 and see if that helps...

Some intel boards have memory issues when the cpu cooler is overtight, dunno if it applies to your situation.
