Windows 7 CD

Ok so i wasnt exactly sure if this is the right place to post this and I have been an bit of an idiot. I have 2 windows 7 CDs 1 32 bit 1 64 bit i am using the 32 bit copy on my laptop and want to use the 64 bit copy on my PC. The only problem i have is that i have burnt both the copies onto blank cds and i did not mark which one is which. So is there anyway in which I can tell them apart ?

If you received the two cds with one key number, you can use only one at a time.
After installation, right click on computer icon at desktop and properties it will tell you 32 or 64

You can only have a single install activated with a single key, if you attempt to activate a second install with the same activation key the key will be black-listed by MS and it will be lost to you forever.

No I did not make this clear.


It is 2 seperate copies i got from the MSNDAA site 1 is 32 bit With its OWN key and the other is 64 bit WITH an different key. It is 2 DIFFERENT cd keys as i have looked on the site i have 1 cd key for the x64 and 1 cd key for the x86.

What i need to know is I have burnt them onto 2 different blank CDs and i need to find out which is the 32 bit as this is already in use and which is the 64 bit to put it onto my Computer.

Put the disk in the Optical drive and "open folder to view files" that or properties should tell you the bit-rate.

Put the DVD in a working computer & look at the properties of the Disc.

64 bit should be about 3.2 GB in size

32 bit should be about 2.5gb in size

After installation, right click on computer icon at desktop and properties it will tell you 32 or 64

Both of them seem to contain exactly the same files and i cannot see a bit rate and i cannot just put it in and try install any1 as i am already using the 32 bit copy and if i install it on a 2nd pc it will lock the cd key out

Intall but do not put the key number in. Untick the box autotmtically activate when I am on line
You have 30 to use the key

You just don't activate during the install, have a look at this tutorial at the link below.

Doc's idea above will tell you which is which, look at the size of the files on the disk.

Insert DVD in the working computer, browse the Disc with Windows Explorer to see the total size of space occupied on the DVD

thanks all for the help have now got it installed on my PC just need to figure out exactly how to get it fully functioning is my next mission for tomorrow

There is no procedure to blacklist Product Keys which attempt to activate on more than one computer, simply because there is no way to uninstall the activation in MS computers until it is overwritten with a new hardware signature by a new activation.

If you attempt to use a key which is already activated in MS computers on another hardware profile , activation will be shifted to a robocall which will ask how many computers the key is activated upon. You can only answer "One" to continue with reactivation. If the old activation's install connects to the internet, it will deactivate.
