Windows 7 charger problem

Hey, so today i was using my laptop and all of the sudden my laptop closed and i didn't know why. Then i found my battery and put it in. Then it opened. So then i figured that the laptop's charger is the problem. I am using a Windows7 Laptop. So can anyone please help me or give me suggestions on how to fix it? Whenever i plug the charger in nothing happens .​

If your plugging in the charger and nothing happens, its probably a hardwar issue, such as a split internal cable, a short, or its burnt out. Windows doesn't really control the charging, that's all done by the batteries circuits and the computers hardware.

The charger you mention is actually just a AC adapter and though it is rare they do go bad. I find it is always nice to have a spare around. I like to leave one plugged in at my desk and another ready for the road. Are you saying your running off battery power or with the battery plugged in the AC adapter started to work again? If the adapter is working again then I suspect the plug or socket wasn't making good contact. With the battery installed try turning the adapter plug in it's socket if the charge indicator goes on and off then the cord/plug or socket are having an issue.

on the bottom of the laptop theres a lighting shaped icon and it goes on and off.

That indicates the charger is not making good contact at either:

1. Where it plugs into the laptop, or
2. At the wall socket

With it plugged in, try moving/flexing/gently bending the adaptor at the wall socket, and see if you can get the lighting icon (charging icon) to say on. Take care not to electrocute yourself.
