windows 7 choppy sound after recording with synth

Hi,

I am running windows 7
dell inspiron 570
64 bit 6gb ran
amd athelon x3
emu 0404 pci sound card

my sound on playback after recording music from my synth comes out choppy. I have disabled every service i don't need disabled the realtex and amd high def audio check the speaker setting adjusted recording levels and still i get choppy sound. I just got this computer two weeks ago. any help would be great

Hmm, sorry but I am a bit confused. Are they .wav or .mp3 or where they .wav originally and are now .mp3. Another possibility would be .mp3 files with a .wav header.

Ok let's try this. I play from my synth via a vst on my computer. I record the out put to acoustica and it saves it as a wav. I should also mention that windows media player and the internet and movies all sound fine

So they are .wav files. Those are lossless (but massive) and should play fine. As an experiment convert them to .wma or .mp3 with Format Factory and see whether that works better.

thought of that but they retain their ultra choppy state i'm afraid.

Did you actually try it - if yes, it must be in the recording and there is probably little you can do about it.

the thing of it is I think it's some kind of conflict but I an out of ideas of where to look

Choppyness usually comes from a driver problem. You can check your Latency with this program and see whether you have any red bars (have the ,wav files running during the check). If there is a problem, the latency checker may give you additional info.

Hmm, did these files play normal on other systems? - I am still inclined to believe that the recording is already mucked up.

oh yes the recordings are mucked up when they are made. That the problem. The synth produces the sounds fine

I am afraid that I am at the end of my ideas. I never worked with a synth and would not know the intricacies of that environment. Sorry
