Is this better than K-Lite?

I would day the k-lite pack is better, updated very often also.
The newest version supports win 7, i am using the beta+real alternative with great results :)

thank you for the heads up. I seem to be able to play most files currently but this will be loaded instantly at the fist sign of resistance :p

Ok, so I'm probably one of your intermediate users who found Seven Forums months ago, and even found these posts about the Codec and installed it, back in March.

Everything's been great until I was looking for a file while helping someone on the phone and went into Windows Media Player to try testing a file, and was prompted to assign which file types should default to Windows Media Player (probably because I've been using iTunes lately, with a new iPod). Anyways, as soon as Windows Media Player opened, it wouldn't go any further without assigning file types. I tried to bypass, but got a screen showing all file types and they were all checked, but also greyed out so I can't uncheck them.

I'm using the 64 bit version of WMP I believe (64 bit Win7) and now I get an error if I try to play any media file in WMP or Windows Media Center. And iTunes has now stopped working.

So, I assume I've done the "bad thing" that Chappy mentioned.

I skipped directly from WinVista to Win7, and as a result never really saw this problem before. If I've caused this to happen, how do I reverse it? My system is pretty much locked up at this point, with respect to playing any media....the only media that plays is standard system sounds and if I watch a video through a web browser (ie. Youtube). Everything else refuses to play.

What is Shark007's codec pack called in the Programs and Features menu? I figure I should try uninstalling it, and then reinstalling it....but I'm not sure what it is called.

Seems like a good replacement to my already installed K-Lite Codec Pack. I don't regularly tweak sound and video so I don't see the point in that anymore. According to my Operating System, which setup files do I need to run?
