Is there a way to change the settings on the windows compressed folder option.

I right clicked file then click send to compressed folder.

Example I compressed a file that was 7mb file and it only compressed to a 6mb file. Why did it only compress 1mb?

How can I change the setting so it compresses smaller?

It depends on the file type of the file you compress. Certain file types can't be compressed that much. Try on a text file or a word document and you'll see a difference.

You could try a better product than the one in Windows, for example the free 7-Zip
That has a high compression especially when you use its own format called .7z instead of .zip. After you install it you get a new 7zip menu when you right click a file or folder. You also have an option to set a password if you want to encrypt the compressed file.
