Windows 7 copy and paste issue

With my Windows 7 Pro 32bit laptop(fully updated) I have issues with copy and paste. When I copy text from a file/document and then paste it into another file/document I have one of three things happen. One it will copy the text correctly, though if I press enter to go to a new line its as if the clipboard was emptied because I cannot paste again, two it will not paste anything as if I didn't copy before, or three it will paste a screenshot of what is currently on my screen into the document.

If it does copy and paste correctly then when I open a new file or folder, the clipboard will empty so I can't paste the same thing into two different documents unless both documents were open when I fist copied the text. This issue also occurs whe trying to copy/cut files and move them to a new/different directory(if the paste location is not already open then the clipboard appears to empty). I do not have this issue at all with my Windows7 Home premium 64bit install on my other machine.

Any help as to how to resove this would be appreciated.

I'm not sure why this is happening, but what happens if you copy and paste to Notepad first, then copy and paste the text from there to another file/document.

I know this sounds like the long way around, but see if it works.

Your problem install should work just like the other one. When important features like this have problems, unless you find a specific fix following steps below then these are the general troubleshooting steps:

Google repeat errors in the Event Viewer>Admin view to see how others have solved them and if they are related.

Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html to check that System Files are all intact.

As a last resort before clean reinstall or running Factory Recovery, run a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R which keeps everything in place but reinstalls the OS under it. This almost always works.

You may need to locate/borrow a Win7 install DVD of any version to unlock to do the Repair for your version: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/85813-windows-7-universal-installation-disc-create.html

sfc /scannow found "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

Although I can run the repair, I was hoping that there was somehing a little less drastic that could be done to the system to make the clipboard function properly.

So as it turns out issue was with the PS2 to USB converter I was using to connet my external keyboard was causing the windows Key to take a screenshot... Talk about inconvienet and difficult to figure out the cause.

Interesting, I have such a converter sitting right here that I took off of one of our computers for another issue which I can't remember now.

Has this solved your prob?

Yes this has resolved my issue. I also have less typos now too. Amazing that it made that key function as both the Windws Key and the print screen key at the same time. Had I not copied the clipbrd.exe file from a windows XP system I'm not positive that I would have ever guessed what the problem was.
