Windows 7 Crashes After Startup

I've been using build 7000 since it was released back in January and it has been generally an enjoyable experience. Today, however, the OS keeps crashing into a blue screen immediately after startup. Sometimes while the log in tune is still playing (making it loop) and sometimes shortly thereafter.

I've tried just about everything I can think of to no avail. The only thing I did yesterday was install the new patch to World of Warcraft, and I doubt thats the problem.

Attached is a copy of my DxDiag.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Thanks!

I suggest grabbing the torrent download for build 7077 at the very least and reloading (not upgrading).

By looking at your dxdiag i think the problem is the fact that you are using Win 7 build 7000 but your comp thinks it's windows xp.This is from your file.

Keep in mind that this is still "beta" so bugs are going to crop up. Given that since build 7000, builds 7032, 7048, 7057, 7068, 7077 and now 7106 have been leaked out, it's a safe bet that these include numerous bug fixes as well as feature improvements. Before getting wrapped up in chasing down a bug in an older build, it makes more sense to just load a later build to see if it has been addressed.

can you boot into safe mode? if so, bring up the event viewer and retrieve the error message generated at the time of crash.

My Windows 7 Home Premium crashes on start up now and again.
I'm beginning to suspect it occurs whenever I have an IPOD or MPG player connected via a USB port.
Removing the connections reduces the crashes.
