Hey guys!
I usually don't post much in forums because I can figure out things myself, but this is an exception…

My computer was working normally, and perfectly as ever and it just crashed and restarted all of a sudden.

Then it wouldn't boot properly anymore. It keeps going automatically to Startup Repair, but it won't fix it. After about 5 minutes it says "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically" and it stays like that.

Keeps booting to startup repair, it can't fix it, and it restarts. Repeat. And repeat.

Here are the problem signatures that startup repair gave:

Problem Signature:
Problem Event Name: Startup Repair Offline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21200658
Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 06: 8
Problem Signature 07: CorruptFile
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Extra info:
I was running VisualBoyAdvance (GBA Emulator) when it crashed. I runner it several times before, never had any thing like this.

I had a torrent which my antivirus didn't say it was a virus. Still, I suspect of it.

I would greatly appreciate a solution that didn't involve formatting my hard drive :)

Thanks in advance

Hello Shawn,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I followed every step properly in the link you've given me, but still no luck… It still boots up to startup repair every time and fails fixing. It also happens when i boot in safe mode.

i think you didn't find files in step 14 & 17.
i was have same problem, and didn't find files in step 14. it's because the HD is broken.

so, replace your HD with the new one.

MiniminGames,

Let's rule out malware.

Follow procedure below to make yourself a bootable USB stick to clense your system.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/166445-microsoft-standalone-system-sweeper.html

PUT SYSTEM SWEEPER ON A USB STICK

System Sweeper, https://connect.microsoft.com/systemsweeper, allows you to start an infected PC and perform an offline scan to identify and remove viruses, rootkits and other advanced malware. System Sweeper is a free standalone, bootable malware and virus remover from Microsoft.

Safety Scanner, Microsoft Safety Scanner - Remove Spyware, Malware, Viruses Free, is free, downloadable, provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.

If the target computer has a working internet connection, then you may prefer to use the Safety Scanner.

Download System Sweeper (about 576 kB):
https://connect.microsoft.com/systemsweeper

Insert 256 MB or larger USB stick into a usb port.

Run the downloaded program--mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe

Choose the option to install to USB.
Caution: The install program will format the usb stick.

The install program will download about 200 mB more.

After the install is finished, leave the stick in the usb slot.

Run the program you downloaded once again.

This 2nd run, and any subsequent runs, will download the very latest anti-virus definitions (about 60 mB).

To keep System Sweeper up-to-date, simply reinsert the usb stick and run the installation program again.

The initial, full scan by System Sweeper can easily take a couple of hours, but subsequent quick scans will take only a few minutes.

Remember your computer is being checked for all types of malware and be very thoroughly checked.

@karlsnooks, thanks for the tip.
I did the scan, and I had two severe viruses.
