After a series of inexplicable problems, my 7 partition finally bit the dust. (read my other threads and you'll see what I mean). When I boot it, it says something about AUTOCHK and before, it gave a Windows Startup Recovery thing. Now, I see the autochk thing, a BSOD for a fraction of a second, and I hear the processor resetting (it restarts.) I now am migrating data onto a CLEAN win7 partition I just installed, and things are dandy. I would like to repair the corroded 7, though.

1. What happened?
2. How do I fix this?

PS. Wow. In a day, I've had 3 problems so far. Hopefully my clean partition stays clean.

you hard drive might have a bad sector in it causing the files to corrupt.

I have defragged all of my disks, and none are fragmented or have bad sectors. What causes this? How can I prevent this in my new partition, along with my XP and Vista ones?

Well, now it boots, but the keyboard ceases to function after the bootloader. Any ideas?
