Windows 7 Directories

I frequently work with large, commercial aircraft maintenance and operating documents in the Adobe Acrobat PDF file format. I have multiple directories/folders on my computer to classify documents according to manufacturer.

I also created a "Hold" directory/folder to hold files until I can process them and place them into the proper manufacturer directory. Tonight, I am working with Airbus Industrie (correct spelling) documents that are stored in the "hold" directory.

I have the "hold" directory open on my desktop. I click one of the many Airbus documents in that folder to optimize and process the PDF file. After I compete the process, I save the document in the "Airbus" directory/folder. Once I click on "save as," in Adobe Acrobat Professional, version 8.2, I click through the directories until I locate the "Airbus" folder, even though I have previously saved files into the "Airbus" directory/folder.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I would like for the same directory to open up each time to save a file (without having to click through the directories to find the folder I need to save documents to). This would speed up my work considerably. I think there was a way to set this option in Windows XP Professional.

Sorry for the long post, but I am not really sure how to ask my question without taking ample space to do so.

Thanks!
Joseph Y.

Unfortunate, the setting you are wanting is provided at the discretion of the application developer (Adobe). If the application (Acrobat) does not offer this level of memory then it is not going to happen.

Adobe and I have had wars over their software. They still have a MAC only attitude and I hate that. 90% of their sales are for a "Windows" environment. UGH!

I have Adobe v8.x Pro and Adobe v9.x Pro and Adobe always messes up something just like the problem you are having. One of the worst issues they had was a registry corruption the software created. Instead of fixing the software they sent out a patch that re-created the correct registry keys every time you launched the application. This causes 2 major problems for us. 1) If you were using the software and some of your special settings were stored in that part of the registry there they were wiped out every time you started the software. 2) In a Domain environment where the machines are locked down so the users, viruses, and malware do not harm the machine the Adobe application could not delete and recreate the registry key because the user did not have access to the key. If the software could not delete the key it would pop-up and error message then try to work but crash after the application was running for 2 or 3 minutes, causing you to lose all your work.

I could never understand why ADOBE wouldn't just fix the application so it would stop corrupting the registry. Many many tech support calls and they still would not fix the software. Luckily 6 months later they released a new version. We tried the trial version and all was fixed so we upgraded. But ever since then we have looked elsewhere for better software. One that we really enjoy and does a great job, costs much less and "Yep" remembers your last saved folder is Nitro PDF Professional. Give it a look. http://www.nitropdf.com/index.asp
