Windows 7 Disk not bootable

Hello,

I don't know if the title is misleading but i am having problems with Windows 7 Disk.

I am currently using Windows XP and i want to install Windows 7. So, i downloaded windows 7 from Microsoft site and it was in .iso format. I downloaded it and burned it on a dvd. I have burned the disk properly. As i am on desktop in Windows XP, and i put the DVD in the CD drive, autorun starts setup.exe from the Win 7 disk and i get a screen to install Win 7. When i start to install, it does not allow me to format my C drive, as i have less space and it asks to boot the disk from restart.

So, i restarted my comp, and presses F8 and the boot selection menu popped up. I selected the CD Drive so that it can boot from the disk. But, then i don't get any message such as "Please click any button to boot from the disk". It directly loads windows xp and i cannot install win 7.

I tried it twice and both the times it loads XP, and does not boot from the disk.

Please advice what should i do.

Try not pressing F8 at restart.

If i don't press F8, i won't be able to select the boot selection to DVD Drive. Default it HDD. When i used to reinstall XP, i used to press F8 and then boot from DVD Drive and it worked fine. But i don't know why it is not happening with Win 7.

Windows asked you to restart, not press F8, by pressing F8 you cancel the win 7 install.

I meant it asked me to restart and boot from the dvd to format my C drive and install.

Do not press F8 when restarting from Win XP.

The first point says:

1. Boot the computer from your Windows 7 installation DVD.
NOTE: Make sure that the CD/DVD drive is selected first in the boot order in your BIOS settings. Usually it is by default.

I did that. But the DVD is not booting. That is after changing the Boot Order in BIOS so that DVD Drive is first priority, i dont get this screen:

Instead, it loads Windows XP.

Where do you download the ISO from?

He said he downloaded the ISO from Microsoft's site.

Install ImgBurn, select Verify Disk, then load in the ISO using file folder icon. Make sure it says bootable in text at left.

Now insert DVD, click Verify button to verify DVD against ISO. If necessary, burn again at 4x speed with Verify.

Thanks for the ImgBurn link, i was able to create a new DVD and now it is booting properly.

Now installing Windows 7
