Hi All,

Hope someone can help me!! Ive tried googeling every combination of my problem but cant see to find a decent answer. Im having real problems connecting my Windows 7 laptop to my domain. I've been able to connect Windows2k Machines and XP with no problems. Windows 7 simply spews the error :
The following error occured attempting to join the domain "domainname":
An attempt to resolve the DNS name of the domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can reslove DNS names in the target domain. For information about networking troubleshooting, see Windows Help.
I have a windows 2003 server domain running and it is set up perfecty!!! Please help!!

Thanks

Try to hardcode your DNS into your laptop. Make sure one entry is the server's ip address. That fixed the same issue that I ran into yesterday. This win 7 is a whole new beastie. I'm getting all kinds of permissions issues that didn't previously exist on the network under Win2k pro workstations & 2003 server.

hopefully you've got the new GPO setup for your windows 7 box. Disable Ipv6. restart computer and ping domain controller either by [IP address w/ -a] or by computer name. does it resolve?
