I'm running Windows 7 and whenever I close my laptop my computer crashes and restarts. My settings are set to go to sleep mode when the lid is closed. I ran Blue Screen View and have a Driver Power State Failure. I also ran the SF Diagnostic Tool and attached the results. Any help is appreciated!

It first started about a month ago. I ran some Microsoft Updates and the problem went away. It just came back today. I haven't downloaded anything new recently. I checked for updates and I have none.

What were you doing when it started? Did you install any programs or update any drivers? Did you add or remove any hardware?

No, I didn't do anything. I just shut the lid to my laptop and when I went to use it again I had to manually shut it down and I got a blue screen. Now whenever I shut the lid it happens and I get a dialog box that Windows has encountered an unknown error.

You have some unnecessary applications running on your system. The ones in red should be disabled in msconfig. The ones in blue should be uninstalled. I'm not a fan of AVG (it's been linked to some instabilities we've seen in this board), so I recommend uninstalling it completely and then installing Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. To rule out AdAware, uninstall it completely and install it again later after we've eliminated the sleep/resume problem.

First, hit the windows key and type msconfig. Switch to the Startup tab and you'll find the entries I listed above. Deselect the checkboxes for the entries in red (unless there is some reason you need the Cisco utility running, disable it as well). Click ok, then reboot.

Second, uninstall AVG and AdAware. Reboot.

Third, download and install MSE. Reboot after the scan.

Try to sleep/hibernate your system and see if it continues to BSOD.

Thank you so much for your time! I did everything you wrote but when I went to install MSE it said my firewall is turned off. I tried manually turning it back on and I got an error code that 'Windows Firewall can't change some of my settings.' Error code 0x80070424. Could this be part of the problem? I'm running the MSE scan now.
