i was curious to check my system's rate..but i had a message system rating is not available! i click on it, a new window opened "rate and improve your computer's performance/ your windows experience index has not yet been established" and a button "rate this computer" so did i!!
the test ran ok..but in the end i got this error message
"the windows experience index for your system could not be computed.
the assessment or other operation did not complete successfully. this is due to an error being reported from the operating system, driver or other component."
i found from the microsoft forum a possible solution suggested to someone else regarding using the chkdsk /f command in command prompt but i made no difference..
any helps guys?

I had this problem once and IIRC it was due to the graphics driver. Try to update the driver for your nVidia card and re-run the assessment.

In fact, it's probably best to update all of the drivers you can (use the latest drivers from the manufacturer rather than Windows update if at all possible)

Good luck.

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
i have installed nvidia's updated driver for 6600 since xfx didn't have any.. but the problem mentioned is with this driver and iirc it was as well present with the windows' driver..
also, since i installed the updated nvidia's driver, screen flashes (like when changing resolution) when system boots, only once or twice, and then everything is normal no more flashing during use of pc as mentioned in other threads..
regarding the windows experience issue is there any log to spot what specific hardware, or driver causes the problem?

@Nikolas: After my third install of the RTM version (x64) I notice that 7 is quite meticulous when it comes to driversoftware & compatibility. Either with the hardware you are using or with third party software. I accidentally stumbled upon the windows experience index (as usual) and found the score a bit low: 2.5. After running a software informer program I updated my NVIDIA grafics software and gave it another try: 5.7! Maybe this link will interest you:

Hi calm, perhaps i haven't quite understand, but can you please tell me how is this link going to help me? apart from giving some information about windows experience?

Is there any case that there is a problem with the install of win7 itself?

Hello Nikolas, to me it seems your 7 install is working just fine - it actually indicated your precise problem: you have a graphics card but you don't have the exact matching software(driver). Seven wants this resolved like sup3sprt already suggested.
Example: I put an Italian carburator on an English motorbike instead of the original one. How can I possibly test the performance of the bike as it won't run properly?

On the other hand: If it everything works fine ... why test it?

Hope you 'll get there!

Can you share the name of the software informer program that you used?

You could also try the even newer nvidia WHQL drivers as the 190.38's have some problems for many.

This is a WHQL-Certified driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, and 200-series desktop GPUs and ION GPUs.

New in Release 190.62
  • Adds WHQL support on Windows 7 for Microsoft’s new DirectX GPU Computing API: DirectCompute.
  • Optimized for the latest PhysX gaming titles: Batman: Arkham Asylum and Darkest of Days.
  • Installs PhysX System Software version 9.09.0814.
  • Includes several bug fixes. More information can be found in the release documentation.
New in Release 190
  • Adds support for OpenGL 3.1
  • Adds support for CUDA 2.3 for improved performance in GPU Computing applications. See CUDA Zone for more details.
  • Adds a new user-controlled power management setting for select GeForce 9-series and later graphics cards (only available on cards that already support more than one power state). This option allows users to set a performance level for each DirectX or OpenGL application.
  • Includes several new control panel features and numerous bug fixes. More information can be found in the release documentation.

It can also help if you look around for the biostar chipset drivers for your motherboard.

chev65 thank you for letting me now about the even more updated nvidia driver!! i installed it but the problem still remains :(
shall i guess that still may be a bug that nvidia hasn't dealt with?
it would help if we had a log that would address exactly what driver or hardware restricts the system rating..!

@bmetelsky: Sure I can. The software informer is part of a neat and flawless program called Advanced SytemCare Pro v3.3.4. You can download it from ******** - just copy the name in the search bar and you'll find it. Saves you lots of detailed trouble.
@nikolas: Maybe this program can fix your problem - it provides a detailed log after scanning and deletes whatever it thinks useless (empty keys, registry hick ups, junk files, et cetera).

I recently caused the WEI tool to fail on my mahcine by turning off Native Command Queing on my SSD.

Which is dumb, the SSD actually runs FASTER without it, wanted to up my score but now it wont run. Is MS now like Punk Busting the WEI score?!? :D
