Windows 7 explorer.exe keeps crashing

Hi all once again i am requesting your help :3

So here's my problem as the title says my explorer.exe keeps crashing to the point i cant even run in normal mode anymore.Safe mode works but crashs as well but less often.

-i tried reformating my laptop (clean install numerous time)
-Runned malware byte and avast
-runned scannow
-Tried formating using windows 32 and 64 bits

None of those worked.Im currently using windows 7 64bits.

System Keeps Crashing

Hi, GameFan1.

I'm assuming your system is not giving you any kind of error message when it crashes. You might want to check the Event Log to see if anything is being logged regarding a problem that might be related.

Is there a possibility that the problem might be with your hard drive?
Or possibly your RAM?

Do you have an older OS that you try installing temporarily to see it it works without crashing?

You might also find out the manufacturer of the hard drive and visit their website to see if they might have some kind of diagnostic tool(s) that you can download to check the disk?

If you are formatting and re-installing the complete operating system from the DVD, outside of some kind of evil rootkit or boot sector virus (taking a wild guess), chances are it's your RAM or your Hard Disk.

Try disconnecting and then reattaching your hard drive connectors and also re-seating the RAM.

To test the RAM, your laptop might have its own diagnostic routines built in. If not, you can download a free memory tester here: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Hi john thx for your answer.

After hours and hours of googling and using different software i finnaly managed to found out my problem.Like you said it was the hard drive

Seems like my only option is to change my hard drive.Wich i will do tomorow.I will post to confirm if my problem was solved thx for your time



Editing, hum i have yet to change my hdd but for some reason im not crashing anymore.This is what i did

1-Went to c:windows
2-Copyed the file explorer
3-Pasted it in system32

NO more crash what do you think ? Should i still change my hdd, or keep it since its not crashing anymore

You might want to run a scan on it.
I usually open a Command Window and enter: CHKDSK C: /F and press [ENTER]
Answer 'Y' to the prompt and reboot.
Many times that will make a lot of difference in how your system runs.

Keep an eye on the screen while the CHKDSK is running.
If it goes really fast, no problem.
If it chugs along and take a very long time to reach 100 on ANY of the phases, then there may be a problem.
Note if it indicates any bad sectors.
You can also see the results of a CHKDSK in the Event Log:

Right-click on My Computer
Choose Manage
Click the '+' next to Event Viewer
Click on "Application"
Under the Source column, look for the newest Winlogon entry.
CHKDSK writes its information there.

Also, consider the age of the drive, and how long it's actually been running.
Most drives have an "average" life span of 5 years. Some go more, some less, but eventually, it WILL fail.
If it's been jostled a lot (laptop-type) or over-heated, that takes a toll...and the older the drive, the more the risk increases. Given the low prices for drives, it's not usually a big deal to invest in a better drive.
