Windows 7 Explorer Keeps Crashing!

Hey everyone recently I downloaded some movies and I wanted to watch them on my tv so I went to my downloads folder to copy the movies to my videos folder, however when I tried to click on the folder Windows Explorer just crashed. I have tried changing the thumbnails and that worked to an extent as I am now able to actually get into the folder but when I click on the video files windows explorer still crashes. I tried looking online for some solutions and thought it may have been a virus so I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes and it came up with nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've gotten to a point where I think my fist through the screen may fix it! Haha.

I don't know about the error or what might be causing it but have you tried vlc, that may stop explorer from crashing. Just a thought.

Yeah I have vlc player, the video does open up and I can watch it on the computer, however after it opens explorer still crashes and I want to stream to my tv through my blu-ray player which uses the videos folder.

ok then some video files are corrupt which causes the explorer to crash and sometimes that would be taken care of by use of vlc, however this doesn't seem to work this time. Might be corrupt or something maybe someone else here can provide more info on what the error means and what is the cause. good luck

MSVCR80.dll seems to be most probably corrupted, try this tutorial and reading each step carefully:

If any corrupt files are found, then keep running the command 3 separate times, with reboots in between each attempt.

:notelease note you may need to create/use your Windows 7 Installation DVD to replace any corrupt files or to perform a Repair Install.

I think his video folder was hijacked by illegally permissions-hungry Windows 7. Get this Add "Take Ownership" to Explorer Right-Click Menu in Win 7 or Vista - How-To Geek
and right click on the video folder and take ownership back.

Sometimes do this will fix Windows Explorer as Robot has posted. Have you tried it?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I found out that it was a certain folder that was causing the problem and fixed it, however the problem is happening again and I have tried the sfc / scannow command and nothing has come up so if anyone else has any ideas that would be great!
