Hi All,

I'm running Windows 7 and have been unable to remove the below entry from my windows explorer download folder. When I trying deleting the file, I received an error message stating unable to locate the file.

_USAJ-PRDDSFS1_Candidate_9637_7639_F1C9BB75-8A05-4B7F-B044-A2BC2D0295B8.pdf

I've trying removing the file from the command prompt, safe mode, and other advanced uninstaller programs, but they can't locate the file. Very frustrating.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much

Shadow

Can you see the file from a Command Prompt?

If all else fails, you should be able to delete it from a live Linux CD like Slacko Puppy Linux. Creqte a bootable CD from the downloaded .iso then boot it, start the file browser, navigate to your download folder (C:\Users\xxxxxxxx\Downloads) and try deleting it there.

Yes, I can see the file in the Download folder and also from the command prompt, when I "dir" command.

I will download the will give slacko a try and run from my virtual drive.

Also, the file was a .pdf file downloaded from a USENET server.

Thanks for your replies.

Downloaded Slacko Puppy Linux was able to boot up with puppy slacko. I then tried deleting the file from the browser and couldn't because it was "read-only" access.

But it was wroth a try. Thanks for the help.

But can you not right click on the file and edit the properties? Going back to the original problem, another idea occurs to me, have you enabled the Windows 7 Default Administrator and tried to delete the file whilst so logged in?

Try what Mitchell65 said. Right click on the file and select Properties. Uncheck Read Only then click Apply/OK.
Delete the file.
