Windows 7 Explorer: Very slow in: Searching, Deleting, Copying of file

Hi,

I still work with windows-7 and the last month i notice very slow executing of Win-7 Explorer functions:
When i want to search, delete of copy a file, for instance, i see a small box, with the message:
.... Searching ..... After some minutes, the requested action is than executed

Is there a method, so i can speed up these Explorer-functions?
I also notice sometimes, a green walking, line in top of the screen (Is the system searching somewhat?)
Or is there a Windows-Indexing problem, somewhere?

I only have one wild-hair guess: security and monitoring utilities may be in the way...

I always (daily) defrag all my volumes.
The problem occurs also on my connected USB-Sticks

If one has a hybrid drive, check with the manufacturer before defragging, because not all hybrids take kindly to defragging. If it is not a hybrid, defrag maybe weekly or bi-monthly.

I don't think USB drives are indexed by default. Also you don't need to defrag daily. If there is just one drive I would be concerned with drive failure. Otherwise I'm not sure. Have you tried the drive in other computers?
