Hello all,

I went from browsers not working before resetting my 3 day old gateway, to crazy slow browser and download speed. So at least I'm moving up in life! How can I increase my browser speed and downloads? Am I missing a driver, need to configure/reset IP's or winsock? I'd like to refrain from changing too much I have to reset factory setting again.

If it's only 3 days old, take it back to where you got it and make them fix it.

You should not have any problems with a new computer.

It's odd though. I first turned it on at my brothers house and it worked perfect. Zero problems with connecting or speed of any kind. At home, with AT&T uverse it can't seem to do anything but sit at the desktop.

Rightclick on connection icon in System tray to run Troubleshooter.

If this doesn't help then I'd call my ISP because troubleshooting your device speeds is almost always included in your monthly bill and they know all of the issues.

I gave them a call and they couldn't help me. I'm thinking I need to update the driver but that's just a guess. I still haven't plugged the desktop directly into the modem so ill see what that does. If it works than something has to be going on with my wireless card right?

What did your ISP try with you? I've always gotten a full troubleshooting routine from them. What ISP do you have?

Plug the PC directly into the router to see if you can narrow the issue to wireless.

They took me through a couple things, but mainly just checking the connections. Everything is connected, it's just death slow. We didn't go through the IP and DNS stuff. I'm going to narrow it down more and call gateway and the ISP one more time before I take it back to replace it.

I solved it by plugging in an old router to the AT&T uverse modem/router. The old one works fine and there might be more wires, but that's a small price to pay.

In that case you've narrowed it to the router. If it works when plugged in by wire, maybe you can reset it and/or tweak the wireless settings to find out what's causing the blockage. If it's less than a year old you still have tech support on it, or you can post in the maker's forum for more help. We also have a Networking forum which can often help with issues like this.
