Hi, so, a couple days ago I reinstalled windows 7, due to getting a new motherboard, and my HDD not liking the new mobo due to having old mobo drivers installed, and now when I try to activate windows 7 it tell me the key cannot be used.

I have used this key to re-install windows 7 before, various computer problems over the years, and it worked fine, and I don't know why it isn't working now.

I have looked twice what I was typing in, and got someone else to look at what the code was to make sure I was typing in correctly.

every time I try to use the code I just get this message saying
"the product key you typed cannot be used to activate windows on this computer"
 
Has that licence been installed on any other computer ever?

Try the phone activation service again, but this time hold for a real person to answer:

1. Click Start, and in the Search box type : slui.exe 4
2. Press ENTER on your Keyboard
3. Select your Country.
4. Select the Phone Activation option, and hold on for a real person.

Just this one, and I've had the same HDD the whole time.

I have changed motherboards once or twice, gotten more RAM, and a new video card over the years, and in the one or two times I had to re-install windows, either due to a virus or my HDD not liking the new motherboard unless I started over, it has taken the code.
