This has been happening for me for some time now.

I have the 64bit RC, and keep it updated through win updater.

When I want to upload a picture to a website, I click on the "Browse computer" button, when I do the window opens for me to navigate to the picture ... as normal, however all it does is freeze, and then goes into (not responding) mode ?

I have tried it with Firefox and IE, both do the same so its not that, and I have done it on numerous sites, so its not the site?

Can anyone advise here at all ?

Thanks.

If there are a lot of pictures in there and show thumbnails is on in the dialog, it can take forever and seems to hang, but it is caching the thumbs.

You can set it to list instead of thumbs, or rearrange your folders so there are not too many in one folder.

Hope this solves your problem.

Did you take CCleaner's Registry Cleaner to optimized your operation system?

To my experience, that would cause internet problems: browsing, downloading, and uploading........

Could you do 2 things

First open task manager (right click taskbar) and watch ram, and cpu for IE while doing what makes it freeze.

Second goto event viewer (type event viewer in search) and see what errors are in the app tab

TIA

Do you have any sort of antivirus/firewall installed? If so try and disable it before you try an upload and see if that works.

It worked fine, however the problem seems to be when it is defaulted to the "desktop" when the window pops up ... its freezing.

For some reason on one or 2 sites it defaults to the "My pictures" and its fine then?

My fingers where not crossed tight enough I reckon, as that did not change anything.

Ah Well, its becoming a real pain as I can not upload attachments to any emails, no matter what I use, be it web server, windows mail, or outlook.

Its affecting it a lot now, and if I don't find a solution soon, I will have to reformat the whole thing, which will be a real pain.

It would one of the programs you installed, something that hooks into Explorer, like a video codec or a right-click menu extension.

Nah. It's the case with all browsers regardless of plugins, even after a fresh re-install. Not related to a specific browser. Happens in Chrome, FF, Int Expl.

I was referring to Windows Explorer, not a browser. All of them use Windows Explorer when browsing for a file.

I disabled the shell integration on everything. We'll see what happens. Thanks for the lead. I'll post back.

Figured I might as well report back that this had nothing to do with the shell in the end. I uninstalled all programs with shell extensions and the problem is still occurring.

This issue affects me as well.

Wondering if anyone else found a solution to this issue. If I try to upload a file to a website, the browser just hangs and ends up with a 'Not Responding' message. A pop up will eventually appear and asks me if I want to wait for the program to respond, or try to end it. Doesn't seem to matter what type of browser I use either, Firefox, IE, or Chrome.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I've been having the same problem for the last few months. Honestly, I don't know if this new laptop has ever worked correctly when trying to upload files. I don't have a single idea of what to do and everything I find online doesn't help. Anyway have ideas?
