windows 7 format help

i have windows 7 and i want to get back for windows xp because i dont have a good graphic card
but each time i try to install windows xp without format i get a massge says:u have a newer version then the one u r trying to setup

and it wont install what should i do?

You do need to format. boot from the xp cd and run setup. just make sure you have a backup of all your data.
