Hey all,

Got a new SSD and just put win 7 pro on it, However I cannot get it to connect to the internet it says to install the driver I tried to do the windows update to auto update my drivers but can not connect to the internet to even try.

How would I find out what network card I have, could I just load it to a flash drive an do it that way?

If it makes a difference it is a wired connection.

Thanks for your time.

Linda,
As I was looking over you system specs... (ok, a little sarcasm, but)
would you be so good as to fill out your system specs.

I realize that you will need to go to another computer to download SPECCY.
Download speccy, then use sneakernet (in other words, copy to usb stick, put usb stick into your computer, copy to a location of your choice on your computer, then run the file you downloaded).

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.
================================================

Now one way to find out more about your computer, and even without using speccy, is:
MSINFO32.EXE or DXDIAG.EXE or going to a command prompt and typing SystemInfo.exe

At the tail-end of systeminfo.exe will be info on your network cards.

Thanks for the help karlsnooks,

normally I am plugged into the wireless router, but when it was not working I plugged into the modem bypassing the router and still have the same issue.

When I did system info it said Network cards: N/A

Now when I plugged in my old hard drive the network card says...

1 NIC installed
[01]: Realtrek PCIe GBE family controller
Connection name : Local area connection
DHCP Enabled: YES
DCHP server: 192.168.1.1
IP address

Go to the gigabyte website.
Download the drivers for your mobo.
Install the drivers.

I realize you must do the downloading from another computer. Use SneakerNet again.

Did you change anything at all other than the HDD to SDD?

The more I think about it,
precisely how did you install Win 7 onto your SSD?

Is the Win 7 on your HDD the same Win 7 as on your SSD?

ok I'll get the drivers and try that.

I'm using the same computer to get the information, just swapping the old HDD for SDD not changing anything else.

Alternatively your motherboard will have your LAN driver which will get you on the net. After that you can try to update it if it is an older one.

I have the same problem

I have i have just formatted my hard drive completely, and installed a new version of windows progressional and after my install i found that i have not drivers for any of the feathers i had before the install.

The main problem i am having is i have no network drivers and every driver i have installed doesn't work.

I have an HP Pavilion p6 2103 model i have tried downloading so many different programs, i have identified the drivers missing and downloaded them to a flash drive and yet still nothing. I accidentally through out the CD that has all the drivers for my PC.

Is there anyway of getting the drivers back for the my system.

I went in command prompt and systeminfor.exe and the network card is NA

I dont see how that is possible when i had internet before that. At the back of my computer where the network wire is suppose to be plugged in the lights are blinking so i assume that means that it works.

i have 32bit operating system.

Please is there anything anyone can do to help :(:(

Hi Linda after the windows install have you installed all the hardware drivers needed from the driver disc you received when the laptop was new or downloaded the drivers from the computer manufacturer's website and install the chipset drivers first as this will give the locations for all other drivers that need installing including the network adapter drib=vers?
