[FIXED] Windows7 Fresh Installation = Unexpectd Error ?

HELP!

I just got a whole new system, piece by piece. I also ordered Windows 7 32-bit OEM.

The hard drive is fresh, a Seagate 500GB SATA internal, that has never been used before. I booted from the LG DVD/CD drive, and the installation seems to go fine, but when it reboots a few times and it appears to be finished, it gets to a screen where it says STARTING SERVICES and then it crashes...

No BSOD, just a window that appears on the screen that reads:

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered and unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and the restart installation."

It has done this every time. My computer hardware stats are on my profile, but I have an ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard with AMD Athlon II X2 240 CPU and 4GB Corsair (2x2GB sticks) DDR2 1066MHz RAM, LG DVD-writer/multi drive, and the 500GB hard drive. The graphics and audio come onboard the motherboard.

I am using an HDMI cable to connect it to my HDTV which has an HDMI port. I have a HANNspree HDMI computer monitor that supports VGA and HDMI. But would that cause a problem?

I don't understand... it's supposed to be supereasy to install. The instructions that came with Windows 7 just show a quick page that just basically says "insert disc, follow instructions, install, and you're done." But it's not happening!! Very confused... I can't install motherboard or other drivers until Windows 7 gets installed.

Anyone else have this problem? I can't seem to find any similar threads...

Thanks

Look in bios for Plug and Play OS setting. Set it to yes.

See page 28 in the manual that you can download.

I was just looking at the BIOS when I came across settings that made it seem that the BIOS had been reset...! And yes, it did have PnP O/S set to NO. I swear I had that set up to YES before... that was before I had issues getting it to detect the hard drive... but now I went in and set all the BIOS variables to the correct ones (AGAIN) and..

IT WORKED!

You were right... now it successfully went all the way into Windows 7 and seems to be running just fine.

Now I have to find all the up-to-date drivers for this O/S... !! Fun fun.. esp since I can't connect it directly to the Internet b/c the USB Wi-Fi adapter needs Win7 drivers.

THANKS! And good call!

You're welcome. I distinctly get the feeling based on this and others that P&P OS is defaulted to off for Asus. Why Asus? Why? lol

I can get a wireless driver for you. Right click it in device manager. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results here.
