Hi teggy6,

Theog is correct. Windows 7 comes with one license (no matter what edition you get). This means that Windows 7 can only be installed on one computer. Further, since his is an OEM version of Windows 7 it is permanently tied to his computer.

Hi ,

You will probably have a manufacturer recovery partition which can be used to put the laptop back to the condition you received it.

There should also be a mechanism to burn off dvd's for the same purpose.

Look under the start menu and you should find something there about creating "recovery" dvd's.

Hi elmowz,

Most computers do not come with an OS disc these days. I recommend creating a system repair disc to access system recovery options (just in case!). This will tell you how to create a repair disc - Create a system repair disc

And, here are your other system recovery options in Windows 7 - What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

I do not know about all manufacturers, but if the system you are refering to is an HP you can order a restore disk from support. It only costs $10 to order.
