Windows 7 hangs on 'shutting down' screen

Hello,
I've got new pc with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. It sometimes hangs on shutdown screen. And then I hold power button (I don't have reset button on my new case) and see BSOD. I have no idea what's wrong.

Related to a driver taking to long to respond. USBHUB.sys crashed. This was probably caused by these old drivers

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Do you have a Logitech QuickCam?? If so unplug it, reboot and shutdown... still problems? Eventually uninstall drivers as well. Post results

These drivers belong to Labtec WebCam Plus which is plugged to my computer.

I had a problem with finding right drivers for this device. Web site of the manufacturer offers drivers for 2k/Xp/Vista only so I installed drivers for Vista 64x and camera works well now but win7 not quite.

How did you install the Vista drivers for Windows 7? Did you install them in compatibility mode as seen in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/98073-drivers-install-vista-drivers-windows-7-a.html ?

I did it as it is described in this thread:

You can use Vista driver. I have 64-bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate. If you are using 32-bit version, software directories may be different but the method should be the same.

The driver version (from Labtec) I use is:

Download the Vista driver, x86 or x64 from Labtec. Labtec.com > Support > Downloads

Install the software. Yes, it gives an error "You cannot use the current version blah blah blah". HOWEVER, setup extracts the drivers to the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labtec\WebCamWebInstall\Drivers\x64

[Comment] Normal unistall -procedure shouldn't leave any files behind, but Labtec's does (fortunately).

Now open the Device manager. Choose your webcam. And if you don't know which one of the devices is your webcam, you should try to find ? -sign and if you check the hardware details, you should be able to find the USB hardware id. Hardware ID for my webcam (same as yours) should be USB\VID_046D&PID_08A2&REV_0100&MI_00

Choose the device. Click the mouse's right buttom. Choose Update the driver software. Locate the driver. You can find the driver from directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labtec\WebCamWebInstall\Drivers\x64 or similar... depending the OS version you have.

There are also two subdirectories ...\WELH64 and ...\WIM64

Your driver is in ..\WELH64 -subdirectory, if you have models Labtec WebCam(Elch 2) / Lacamus, Labtec webcam plus
Your driver is in ..\WIM64 -subdirectory, if you have models Labtec Webcam Plus, Labtec notebook webcam, Labtec Webcam pro.

In your case choose the ..\WIM64 -directory, press ok, and it should find the driver. Voila.

And these instructions should work also for combinations: Windows 7 & Labtec WebCam(Elch 2), Lacamus, Labtec webcam plus, Labtec Webcam Plus, Labtec notebook webcam, Labtec Webcam pro

I am not working for Labtec... so try for your own risk. Don't shoot the nerd.

Since my last post, I haven't had any BSODs caused by my old Labec Webcam drivers. Maybe they have got used to my Win7 OS...

Could be, or could be Windows 7 got used to the Webcam drivers. I suspect the latter, and that Windows 7 updated the drivers or a Windows update provided more stability. How is the system performing overall?

Maybe. The camera is plugged and everything is all right till now. Win7 needs more time for auto-stabilization
Beside this win7 works pretty well, much more faster than vista.

If some BSODs appear again I'll post about it quickly.
