Windows 7 Home Basic partitioning

There is a problem with a partitioning process. Firstly, I've installed Acronis Disk Director Suite and in manual mode I've started to create a new partition. My notebook had 3 partitions: main partition of ~300Gb with Windows installed, unknown "System" partition with "boot" flag of ~1.5Gb and recovery partition of ~8Gb. So I tried to create a new partition using the free space from the first one. After rebooting Acronis started to work, created a new partition and started to replace "HDDRECOVERY" partition. During this process, notebook had been shutdown (it was plugged into the socket) and after turning on, I noticed the next: after turning on and booting BIOS, the laptop is going to reboot again and again and again. Any ideas? P.S.: sorry for the very muddled description

Thx for help. It reboot after BIOS booting. No GUI, console, etc. And again Linux saves the laptop. Win-family is definitely bad

This is becoming an epidemic. How is it Windows fault when you used a third party app to clean up the partitions, and then shut the laptop down in the middle of the process? There shouldn't be any surprise at all that it isn't booting after this. However, the solution is easy. You could have used any of the bootable tools, like Parted Magic to get the partitions the way you want...and then use the Windows 7 disc to repair the boot sector. Then you're back up and running, with your partitions the way you wanted them.

Acronis is a famous software, isn't it? And I suppose it's quite funny to shutdown the laptop during such process. Is it possible to think that it was me who did it?:shock: "Laptop had been shutdown" itself for unknown reason.
However, solution was not so easy. Just read my thread:"no GUI, no console, etc." How could I do it without Windows install disk or smth else? Only using LiveCD Linux. Why Windows has no built-in software for such very cases?

Free Partition Wizard bootable CD has helped with hundreds of complicated repartitioning operations here without a single failure. It has a DataSafe feature which won't fail, just reboot to try again until you bail out. Any other partitioning tool besides Disk Mgmt can and will fail.

You can still try to recover your partition(s) using PW CD "Recover Partition" Wizard.

You should always have a disc handy, especially if you are going to be mucking around with partitions. You didn't mention that you didn't have the disc.

Windows does, but because of what you did with other partitions, your Windows partition isn't bootable to get into its own repair utility....hence the need for the disc.

PSA: Always have your install media handy when doing system changes such as this.

I bought a new Lenovo laptop windows 7 Home Basic 64 bit OS and i tried to partition the C drive which was having 420 Gb space using the Disk management option available in WINDOWS 7.While i was doing that ,i got a setup wizard to partiton the disk and finally i gave an error "You cannot create a partition in this unallaocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions."and now when i check the disk partitions i can see C drive is having only 322 Gb space and 99 Gb space in unallaocated area which i cannot do any thing.So kindly help me how to make it a new partition.

Please post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Mgmt drive map with listings showing all columns, using the Snipping Tool in Start Menu.

If you need to keep all the extant partitions then you may need to convert one to Logical so you can add as many subpartitions as needed from that. We can help you do this.
