I did not notice that. If properly operated, they should not. One thing to watch is that only Win7 (or programs running in Win7) write/delete to the SSD because it has Trim. If, e.g. you install a double boot on it where you run Linux or Vista or XP, the part of the disk that is allocated to the other system will get "polluted" and if later Win7 wants to write to that space, the write operations will take twice as long until all spaces have been once again used (cleared) by Win7. You can see if AHCI is available under SATA controller settings in BIOS setup. I would try that setting first, then if you have problems with install use IDE mode. Are there any other settings?
Sorry, but I couldn't get a clear answer from that thread. I have an HP laptop should I switch to ACHI or keep it at IDE. I heard that ACHI causes alot of problems. What should I do.

I only go by what the guys that tried it have to say. And some of the experienced friends seem to think it is a wash. Why go thru the trouble - see my slogan on the bottom of the post. LOL

That's what the guys that have tried both did in fact say. But there also "minority reports" claiming that AHCI speeds things up. But does it really make a difference at the speed the SSD runs.
