Running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Start up goes uneventful, but through the course of use something changes and when I try to highlight one icon, or one file, multiple files or icons highlight, and then can't be un-highlighted. I can run Glary Utilities, which will undo the problem for 5 minutes, then it goes back to acting the same way. Any ideas?

Take a screenshot please. I think it might be something to do with your clipboard. Try running a registry check from CCleaner.

Screen shot just shows the following.

When you click on icon on desktop, it appears that you have instituted a group icon highlight, and highlights all icons before it on the desk top. It them locks in group highlight mode. If you do it in a Explorer "list window" it highlights all files in window. I have run Glary Utilities, Windows Washer, Registry Mechanic, and Fix-it Utilities. No changes
