I have installed Windows 7 on my Laptop (2 GB of RAM), and it works fine except for various icons. Not only do they not appear in the start menu and taskbar, but some, including MS Office 2007, don't even show with their .exe files. Any suggestions?
(I deleted the iconcache file and restarted, but no luck.)
Thanks.

Not sure what you are saying here. Where are you not seeing the .exe file extension? Have you gone into Folder Options and unchecked Hide extensions for known file system types? Should also select Show hidden files, folders and drives.

The extension shows, but the Program Icons don't, not in the Program Files Listing, nor the Start Menu, nor the taskbar pinned or not.

Hopefully, I found your problem

Go to search, type in customize start menu

Go to start menu tab.

Make sure the two boxes are checked.

For task bar type customize task bar.

The rest is self explanatory.

Hope this easy change works.

Fart Just do this go to search

type customize start menu

You will see a box with tabs, click on start menu tab

At the bottom you see privacy, with two boxes make sure they are both checked

Then type customize icons on task bar

Then it will be self explanatory. In task bar there are no boxes to check, you just set up what you want
