windows 7 icons

can anyone help me how to use a png file as an icon for a folder in windows 7

is there a way out ?
i want to have large icons for the folders ... i have dl many png's but windows can only set an .ico file as an icon

is there any soft. for this task ?

Hi,
You can use a program such as Gimp or photoshop to change them to .ico or if you want just post them here and I will do it.

i ve installed gimp
but the pic that i've converted to ico ... its not worth conveting as the icon is of v small dimensions .... when i change the view to xtra large icons ... it doesnt inc. the size of the thumbnail of the icon which i ve converted ... so it was in vain

but gimp is realyy a nice soft .. thanks

Could you please specify what the icon size is and what you want to convert it to? And would you be able to upload the icon?
